Timeless Love

Pada era 80-90an rasanya agak sulit untuk memilih apakah grup band rock atau lagu rock yang paling asik. Sulit, karena pada masa itu banyak sekali lagu-lagu rock keren yang masing-masing punya karakter sendiri. Bahkan grup band rock yang agak kurang populer semacam Trixter atau Saraya-pun memiliki ciri khas sendiri, umumnya masih setia pada genre Rock; vokalis bersuara tinggi, solo gitar melodius dan melengking, gebukan drum yang powerfull tak terkecuali saat mereka menyanyikan lagu-lagu slow. Cengeng tapi masih berkarakter dan terkesan gahar, beda banget jika dibandingin musik metal (mellow/melayu total)

Kali ini, saya hanya ingin melestarikan satu lagu dari satu band yang mungkin kurang populer di era hair metal dulu. Band itu ialah Saraya. Saraya adalah band yang berasal dari US dan dibentuk pada tahun 1987, dengan frontman vokalis sandi Saraya dan pemain kibor Gregg Munier. Anggota band yang lain ialah Tony Rey
(guitar), Gary Taylor (bass) and Chuck Bonfante (drums). Band ini dipengaruhi oleh Heart, the Pretenders dan Pat Benatar.

Salah satu lagu keren dari band ini, ialah Timeless Love. Tema dari lagu ini ialah suatu hubungan cinta jarak jauh, ada optimisme sekaligus pesimisme akan masa depan hubungan itu. Yup, lirik lagu ini adalah cerminan nyata tentang dialektika (baca:pertentangan) dan bagaimana seseorang atau dua orang terjebak didalamnya.

Lagu ini sebenarnya merupakan salah satu single pada soundtrack film "Shocker" yang filmnya sendiri dirilis pada tahun 1989. Yak..cukup jadul gitu lo..

Robert Plant Gak Nge-Rock Lagi ! (Grammy Award Februari 2009)

Bela-belain nonton pengumuman Grammy Award tanggal 9 Februari 2009 kemarin langsung dari Amerika...lewat Tivi lah (hehehe), cuman pengin nungguin perform-nya Robert Plant frontman vokalis sekaligus pencipta lagu dari Band Legendaris Led Zeppelin. Selain itu setelah sekian lama do'i bertapa, do'i juga dinominasikan pada beberapa kategori untuk album terbarunya "Raisin Sand" yang dirilis pada tahun 2007.
Yah..itung-itung dengerin lagunya dulu baru donlot di Rapidshare gituh!. Yah, dalam bayangan pastilah si Robert Plant akan nge-rock habiezz, eh nyatanya... nge-country habiezz atau nge-bluegrass...(masih belum bisa bedain country dengan bluegrass) terdengar sama saja sih. Apa lagi Raisin sand itu ialah album duetnya Robert bersama Alison Krauss. Jelaslah si alisson itu ahli country dan bluegrass....(bersambung klik read more di bawah)

Meskipun Robert meninggalkan gaya nge-rocknya tetep aja membuat tercengang, palagi saat nyanyiin "Rich Woman", dengan teknik vokal runtun seperti nge-rap dan teknik pengambilan nafas yang terjaga...keren! bisa-bisanya do'i ngubah style...empat jempol deh buat Robert Plant... Panteslah kalau dapat penghargaan Grammy untuk beberapa kategori dan yang paling bergengsi ialah untuk Album terbaik.
Anyway, gaya di lagu Rich Woman kek lagu2nya The Doors, termasuk style gitar dan drumnya...selain itu sound2 yg ngingetin akan The Doors seperti lagu "Fortune Teller" dan "Gone Gone Gone..." beberapa lagu itu masih menyisakan karakter vokal sang maestro yang panjang dan khas cengkoknya.
Jangan harap lagu bertempo cepat dan vokal melengking di Album Raisin Sand, karena disini Robert Plant benar-benar terlahir dengan karakter yang berbeda. Meskipun menurut saya, style yang lahir bukan style baru khas gaya anak sekarang semacam "hardcore" atau "emo", tetapi karakter yang lebih kuno dari hardrock.
Nuansa sunyi, senyap dan alur yang lambat sangat kental di album ini...coba dengar "Sister Rosetta Goes before Us", "Stick with me baby" dan "Through the Morning Through the night".
Jadi buruan deh denger Raisin Sand, atau saya share kalo mau...(:D). (masih dalam proses editing).

Personal Review: Yamaha DFP 9315 aka Flying Dragon

Note: this is my personal (subjective) review about yamaha dfp, and maybe different result from one to another. And I'am not endorsed by yamaha.

Actually, i intend to buy Pearl Powershifter 2002 double pedal for my drumset I read a lot of good review about powershifter,and easy to play and adjust. Interchangeable a chain with a belt too. I was informed that Pearl Powershifter around 2.7 million rupiahs to 3.2 million.. (it's expensive things).
Because i live in Semarang, i decide to look around music store like Kurnia Music and Halmamera Music.
I found Powershifter on Kurnia Music aroud 3.3 million rupiahs, and i couldn't found that thing at Halmahera Music. As u know, halmahera music has been my favorite place to search and buy music stuff.
Because, they can beat any prices in any music store.. and of course cheaper than any music store..if u dont believe, just try!
But i was dissapointed, that they have not stock Powershifter. They provide Yamaha, Tama, Stable, Stagg and other china brand. Shortly, i tried Yamaha both DFP 9410 and 93145, i wasn't interest to use Iron Cobra coz i had tried before, and it feel hard to play with left foot. Both Yamaha soft and strong construction, but i can change the chain to belt with 9315. In My opinion the 9315 is more natural than 9410 (dirert drive)--> feel like pearl powershifter.
Okay, i conclude to buy yamaha DFP 9315 with a cheaper price than other store, 2.4 million rupiahs. Huh.. they robbed my wallet :D.
Immediately i change the chain with belt, it give me soft and speedness than chain. And i have to adapted few day and hour to familiarize my feet(especially left) for using that pedal, and the same power between left and right feet.
And, the conclusion this is nice, speed, soft, strong double pedal. I can play speed metal like helloween, power metal like alterbridge and give some triple accent with left foot when i play funk.
U can see and listen i played with this pedal... maybe i have to learn increasing my speed to play grindcore..:D.



Conclusion (pake bahasa indonesia..males translate in english..capeee booo).
Pros:
- Yamaha Double Pedal, asik sekali dimainin... soft, natural dan kuerass (loud) gitu. Katanya kalo pake chain lebih keras lagi suaranya. Sayangnya saya sudah kadung suka pakai "belt".
- Asik buat main, speed metal dan sound yang keluar dari bass drum benar2 nendang meskipun tenaga yang dipake nggak penuh
- Asik juga pengganti olahraga bersepeda, bagi yang males keluar rumah dan panas-panasan. Asli sebentar aja mainin dah gembrobyos...
- Dapet soft case cantik, bisa dibawa kemana-mana kalo mau konser atau sekedar pamer ke mall (kurang kerjaan banget :)) )
- Dudukannya fix dan stabil banget, jadi nggak "jalan2" meski ditendang sekuat tenaga, soalnya ada plat ditambah karet dan pengait yang kuat di bawah footboard.
- Apa lagi ya...coba aja sendiri deh, kalo menurut saya...saya lebih suka ini daripada Iron Cobra...


Cons:
Muahal, Muahal, Muahal! Jika tidak di halmahera music harganya mencapai 3. Tapi di Halmahera saya dapat diskon jadi bisa tak beli seharga 2.4 kurang malah.
Tapi saya kira, harga double pedal yang berkualitas memang segitu lah. Misalnya Tama Iron Cobra atau Pearl Powershifter ya sekitar 2.5 sampai 3.3... untuk sebuah double pedal saja booo..
Saya mungkin sudah gila membeli barang ini! (obsesi masa kecil), dan itung2 buat belajaran anak saya juga..biar nanti bisa kek Jason Bittner atau Mike Portnoy..hehehe.

duratech "the affordable and durable drumstick"

According to its name, duratech stick have a unique construction. The finish of this pair, has a rainbow colour with a empty material in the middle of the stick. Polymer Plastic is the material of this pair. It could be benefit and lossy of this brand. The benefit is strong and durable for any pratices and whacking use. In the other hand the polymer and emptyness of the middle make this stick sound crap, insipid sound and poor tone if you hit on the bell ride or drumhead.
You can tighten the drumhead especially on the batterhead of snare drum to create deep sound with this stick.
I have using duratech for 6 month, and it has strong enough that i never change to the wooden stick anymore for drum practice. But in my opinion you should use the wooden stick if perform and for serious gig.
Pros, You can decrease your sound volume and it can be alternative to lessening volume when praticing. Also the unique and bizarre sound. Let's rock and save the money with duratech stick!

About Premier New Cabria APK Jazz Series

This drumkit has a strong build with Hi-hat, crash & ride cymbals (with stands), 2 x hanging toms, 1 x floor tom & bass drum.
The Choice of finishes are Black Diamond, White Marine Pearl, Black Stain Satin, Flame Red Lacquer, Cerise Lacquer and Aqua Marine. I personally choose the wrap one “White Marine Pearl”, It has clean and classical look!
Ash combine with maple has become material of this drumset shell. Ash is a very strong and durable wood, with a high strength-to-weight ratio, and is employed for (among other things) flooring, tool handles, bows and baseball bats. It is also often used for making guitar bodies due its unique sonic characteristics.
Overall this kit sounds great, and it is built purely well, but there are a couple of minor disappointments that dampen my enthusiasm — although I am sure these could easily be sorted without the price rocketing. I cannot hide my disappointment with the cheapo front bass drum head which, if it’s not tamed, flaps around to its heart’s content.
Actually, a blanket or 13.5 tog duvet can really help, placed in the drum would help, but why kill the sound? Also,
dampening methods like this can move around during transport, and unless you put a mic port in it, it’s difficult to get it in position each time without picking the whole thing up and giving it a good shake!
Having said that, this kit is simply stunning and gives great all-round value for money.
Straight out of the box and with a few relatively minor tweaks, I can be up and gigging with this setup in a matter of minutes. The contrast sounding between the toms and bass drum is immense and a joy to play — it doesn’t really matter what musical genre you are into. I enjoy to play , whacking out some rock everyday… with my White Marine Pearl Cabria Jazz 22.
